This is a long shot, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Does anyone know of a job opening with normal hours (8 or 9 to 5 or 6 ish) somewhere near North Raleigh or downtown (within 10 minutes or so)? I am so limited as to where I can apply because I'm going to have to ride to work with my husband for a few months until I can buy a car. I'm looking for any jobs I'm qualified for but would like to avoid sales and food service if at all possible.

Here's a little about me to give you an idea: I moved here to Raleigh from Ohio a few months ago and have gotten "second place" for several jobs- meaning I've gone through second and third interviews at several places and keep losing out to someone. I've been up for customer service jobs, an apt. leasing agent, and a front desk/secretarial position thus far. I can get interviews and second interviews, but I can't seem to close the deal.

I got my bachelor's from Appalachian State in sociology. The major works well in all types of human service / customer service jobs, but many employers don't seem to be looking for sociology majors. I also have a year of law school at Ohio State, but I dropped out when I realized I really did not want to pursue that job track. I'm 27 and don't have a ton of work experience due to being in school so long and moving. My last job was a temp job scoring standardized tests, and the one before that I spent nearly 2 years designing wedding-related paper products (invitations, programs, seating charts, etc.).

I'm getting the feeling that you have to know someone, and as I'm still fairly new here, I don't know many people. If you know anything or know of anyone you'd recommend me contacting, I would sincerely appreciate it.
